Planning Permission
- In the last few years the rules on planning permission in England have changed to allow householders to carry out some work without the need for planning permission.
- BUT it is still a good idea to check with your local authority as some rules do still apply, especially if the work you are planning will affect your neighbours in some way.
- Anyone living in a conservation area, world heritage site or in a listed building will need to contact the planners to see what is and isn’t allowed.
- Householders in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland should always consult their local planners, as their rules may differ from those in England.
